Smoor – BIAL Terminal 2
Interior Design
Context
Located within the retail concourse of Bangalore’s Terminal 2, the project involved designing a boutique store for Smoor, a brand known for handcrafted chocolates and desserts. The brief was to create a compact retail environment that reflected the richness and refinement associated with the brand while remaining efficient within the limited footprint of an airport retail unit.
Design Approach
The design draws inspiration from the layered qualities of chocolate itself. Arched display niches, fluted surfaces, and warm metallic accents introduce depth while framing the products as the focal point of the space. The entrance arch establishes a clear point of arrival and invites visitors into the boutique.
Material tones take cues from cocoa with a palette of deep browns, warm neutrals, marble surfaces, hardwood elements, and metal detailing. The flooring pattern subtly guides movement through the store, helping visitors navigate displays within the compact layout.
Spatial Experience
Display islands and alcoves are arranged to encourage slow browsing and close interaction with the products. Sculptural lighting highlights key displays while reflective surfaces enhance the sense of depth within the small footprint.
A green feature wall introduces a natural counterpoint to the otherwise refined palette. Many of the materials used meet LEED certification standards in accordance with airport guidelines, reinforcing the project’s commitment to responsible material selection.
