Interior Design

An open-plan office softened by landscape pockets

An office interior designed as a continuous workspace for a travel company within a commercial building in Indiranagar.

Context

The project involved designing a 3,500 sq ft office for a travel company that curates global itineraries. The brief called for a workspace that felt open, collaborative, and free from traditional hierarchy. With approximately fifty employees and no requirement for enclosed cabins, the design focused on creating a shared working environment that encourages visual connectivity and informal interaction.

Design Approach

The plan is organised as a fluid open layout where workstations, collaborative tables, and breakout areas coexist within a continuous volume. Landscaping pockets are introduced across the floor to soften the workspace and create informal zones for conversation.

The material palette remains restrained. White surfaces maximise natural light, while textured grey lime plaster feature walls introduce subtle depth. Mustard-toned seating and upholstered furniture bring warmth to the otherwise neutral palette. The ceiling remains exposed, allowing structural and service elements to remain visible and giving the workspace a refined industrial character.

Spatial Experience

Large glazed openings connect the office to surrounding greenery, bringing daylight deep into the floor plate and reinforcing a calm, breathable atmosphere. Breakout seating areas are positioned throughout the workspace, allowing employees to pause, collaborate, or shift between focused and informal modes of work.

Within the conference room, a commissioned artwork depicting an Indian Kathakali dancer introduces a cultural reference that aligns with the company’s travel narrative. The resulting workspace balances openness with warmth, supporting both productivity and shared experience.
